ATLANTA (AP) _ Andrew J. Young III, the teen-age son of the former Atlanta mayor, was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon, police said.

Young, James Douglas, and Reginald B. Wright, all 17, also were charged with possession of alcohol by minors.

Odfficer Larry Geisz said said Young was in a car he stopped near the Young family home after he saw a bag of trash thrown out of it.

Geisz said he noticed a holster by Young's foot and when he asked the boy what it was, ''He did not answer, but reached down and pulled up a pistol and pointed it at me.''

Geisz said Young put down the weapon when he drew his own.

Andrew Young said his son told him the gun belonged to an older brother of the car's driver, who kept it under the seat.
