American Jet Makes Emergency Landing

September 8, 2000

DALLAS (AP) _ An American Airlines MD-80 made an emergency landing at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Thursday evening after the pilot shut down one of the plane’s two engines.

``There was an oil indication problem so the captain shut down the engine, declared an emergency, and landed safely without incident,″ said Elizabeth Ninomiya, a spokeswoman for the Fort-Worth based airline.

Flight 105 bound for Dallas from New York’s John F. Kennedy International airport carried 61 passengers and five crew members.
