Cosmo Ad Ruled Illegal in Hungary
BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) _ Advertising posters for the Hungarian edition of Cosmopolitan magazine were ruled illegal Friday by the Municipal Consumer Protection Authority.
The ad shows a semi-naked woman with a man’s hands cupping her breasts from behind, under the caption ``The Cosmopolitan reader’s favorite bra.″
``We wanted a statement that would create a buzz about the magazine,″ Cosmo publisher Carel Limburg told The Budapest Sun weekly before the ban was announced.
Hungary’s advertising law ``bans any ad that may harm children’s and juveniles’ physical, moral or intellectual development,″ the consumer watchdog group said as it ordered the posters removed.
The Hungarian edition of the popular American magazine was launched with great fanfare last month.
Local Cosmopolitan editors were not available for comment Friday.
