The Aiken Master Gardeners will hold a Meet a Master Gardener event from 8 a.m. to noon today at the Aiken County Farmers Market, 115 Williamsburg St. N.E. Master gardeners will be on hand to answer questions about lawns, gardens, weeds, insects and more. Plants also will be available for sale.

The Aiken Pacer Aquatic Club will hold tryouts and group placements on the following dates: 9 a.m. today; 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 12; and 9 a.m. Saturday, July 14; at the USC Aiken pool, 471 University Parkway. The Old Edgefield District Genealogical Society will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 8, in the Lynch Building Annex of the Tompkins Library, 104 Courthouse Square, Edgefield. Aliene Shields Humphries will be the guest speaker. Her topic will be Timeline and Importance of SC in the American Revolutionary War. Refreshments will be served. A Music Trivia event will be held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, July 13, at the Aiken County Public Library, 314 Chesterfield St. S.W. Sign up as a team of five, or sign up to be put on a team. Porkchop Productions presents “Beat the Book Mon,” at 7 p.m. Monday at the Nancy Carson Library, 135 Edgefield Road, North Augusta. The Augusta Fencers Club will offer introductory foil classes for ages 6-9, 10-13 and 14 and older. The Youngsters (ages 6-9) class will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays beginning July 12. Young Teens (ages 10-13) will meet at 5 p.m. and Adults (ages 14 and older) will meet at 7 p.m. Mondays beginning July 9. The courses meet for about an hour for 10 consecutive weeks. The Friends of the Aiken County Historical Museum will hold a History on Tap event at 6 p.m. Monday at Mellow Mushroom, 151 Bee Lane. David Tavernier will be the guest speaker. His topic will be How the Winter Colony Phenomenon was Established and Developed. Tickets are $10 for friends members and $15 for non-members, and payment must be by check or credit card.
