CHICAGO (AP) — Officials say women entrepreneurs seeking to expand their businesses will benefit from an upcoming conference in Chicago.

The second annual Women Business Owners Symposium will be March 27 at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Development is organizing the event. Its theme is "It's your time!"

The conference is designed for women who are considering becoming their own bosses or businesswomen looking for help to expand.

Keynote speeches will feature Marianne O'Brien Markowitz, acting head of the U.S. Small Business Administration, and Beth Reese, president of Nicor Gas.

Free daycare is available and the exhibit hall will offer opportunities for counseling with more than 60 business resource agencies.

Panel discussions will include contracting opportunities with the federal and state governments.
