Being able to express faith is a positive

September 18, 2018

Being at the same school my whole life has been a privilege that I sometimes have taken for granted. I have grown up and matured with the same people throughout my many years of being at Norfolk Catholic and have developed relationships with most of the them that I hope to keep for the rest of my life.

Norfolk Catholic has given me the chance to connect with many different types of people through all of the activities available there, such as sports, music, academics and drama. Even though these activities make up a large part of what Norfolk Catholic is, there is so much more within the walls of Norfolk Catholic that many people don’t get the chance to see.

At Norfolk Catholic, we get the opportunity of being in more than one group or activity. I am involved in sports, musical, discipleship group, one act and more, and they have all allowed me to meet different groups of people and make great friendships. There are also many other activities like band, show choir, choir, mock trial and quiz bowl that other students are involved in.

Excelling at these activities is another thing that makes Norfolk Catholic special. We take pride in making sure that we work hard and do the best at whatever we are doing. We also use our failures as a way to learn from our mistakes and to better ourselves. It isn’t all about wins and losses, it’s about being the best person we can be on and off the court, field and stage.

Another great thing about Norfolk Catholic is how we help each other to grow in our faith and strengthen our relationship with God. Our mission statement is to walk with others to meet Jesus and we try to do just that whether it be at practice or during a game. Being able to freely express our faith and challenge each other to be the best version of ourselves is the central core of Norfolk Catholic. Without it, Norfolk Catholic wouldn’t be what it is today.

Each activity at Norfolk Catholic is important and has allowed us students to share the talents that God has given us. They have also bonded people together and have given them the chance to create friendships that will, hopefully, last a lifetime.

By attending Norfolk Catholic, I have been able to strengthen my relationships with not only my friends and classmates, but with God also.
