Central City man wanted for shooting at residence

May 4, 2019

State police are looking for a Central City man who fired a gun into an occupied residence Thursday morning.

Troopers responded at 1:25 a.m to a domestic dispute along No. 1 Road in Shade Township.

Before they arrived, 34-year-old Justin Wade Hartman fled the residence with a .22-caliber rifle, according to state police.

Hartman then proceeded to shoot at the occupied residence, striking it several times and causing the residents to take cover, police said.

Police established a perimeter around the wooded area, and additional troopers searched the area.

The Somerset County Search and Rescue Team was called to assist with a drone; however, Hartman could not be located.

A warrant was issued for his arrest. Police said anyone who comes in contact with him should proceed with caution and call 911.

He was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm, discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, flight to avoid apprehension, recklessly endangering another person and resisting arrest.
