LEWISBURG, Pa. (AP) _ Kevin Wenk scored a career-high 20 points as Bucknell knocked off defending league champion Navy, 73-63, in the Patriot League opener for both teams.

Brian Anderson added 19 points and seven rebounds for Bucknell (2-9, 1-0).

Navy (6-5, 0-1) was led by forward Wes Cooper, who scored 17 points and grabbed a game-high eight rebounds.

The Midshipmen were ahead 30-28 at halftime and still led midway through the second half, when Wenk sparked a 9-0 Bucknell run. Wenk, who had not scored more than nine points in a game all year, scored seven in a row to turn a 41-41 tie into a 48-41 Bucknell lead.

Navy edged closer, and trailed came within two points, 63-61, after Greg Stephens scored a layup with 1:43 left.

Wenk answered for Bucknell, scoring on an off-balance jumper with 1:35 remaining for a 65-61 lead. After a miss at the other end of the floor, Wenk grabbed the rebound and was fouled.

He hit both free throws, beginning an 8-2 Bucknell spurt that closed the game. The Bison went 8-for-8 from the foul line in that stretch, while Navy was forced to try desperation 3-pointers that missed in the last 30 seconds.
