Pecan fundraiser to benefit CEOS program

WAYNE — The Wayne County Community Educational Outreach Service (CEOS) program is selling pecans as part of their annual fundraiser.

Funds raised help support community service projects and scholarships for members to attend the State CEOS Leadership Conference at WVU Jackson’s Mill in Weston.

Pecan halves are sold in one pound bags for $10 and are from this year’s harvest in Georgia.

Reserve your order no later than Monday, October 15 by calling the WVU Extension Office in Wayne at (304) 272-6839 or emailing Cathy Smith, Program Assistant atcathy.smith@mail.wvu.edu.

Make checks payable to “Wayne County CEOS”. Orders will be ready for pick up at the Extension Office in early November.The (CEOS) program will hold a Breast Cancer Awareness event on Monday, October 1 as part of a statewide effort to raise awareness about the importance of screening and early detection.

The event will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Wayne County Courthouse. The event is free and open to the public.

Breast Cancer survivors are welcomed and encouraged to attend. The CEOS will host a similar event on Tuesday, October 2 at noon at the City of Kenova Town Hall Gazebo.

The event is also free and open to the public.
