Marshall 124, Milligan 71

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) _ Keith Veney scored 23 points as NCAA Division I Marshall romped over NAIA Division II Milligan 124-71 on Saturday.

Seven players scored in double figures for Marshall, which led 59-43 at halftime and pulled away from Milligan (3-3) with a 35-4 run that began with 14:22 left and a 76-50 lead.

Veney scored 10 points in the first three minutes as Marshall opened the game with a 13-3 run. The Thundering Herd, taking advantage of 17 first-half turnovers by Milligan, later used an 18-0 run to build its halftime lead.

The Herd outrebounded Milligan 55-31, led by John Brown with 14 rebounds as well as 18 points. Carlton King scored 17, Sidney Coles, Refiloe Lethunya and John Brannen scored 13 each and Jason Williams scored 11 for Marshall.

Trey Jarmond scored 18 to lead Milligan. Jason Pittser scored 17 and James Harris and Jeff Lyles scored 12 each for the Buffaloes.
