Apartment janitor charged with sex assault in Stamford
STAMFORD — A former maintenance worker has been accused of groping a resident of the apartment complex.
According to the three-page arrest affidavit of Ernesto Leon, a 50-year-old woman told police in October that she was fondled by an apartment worker a month earlier.
The woman said Leon asked her for some ice and she invited him into her apartment, the affidavit said. After giving Leon the ice, she saw he was using it to cool some type of alcoholic drink and became nervous, the affidavit said.
She immediately walked out to tell a neighbor and went back to the apartment. The woman said that Leon told her he liked her and put his hands around her neck and began squeezing. At that moment her hairdresser came into her apartment, saw what was going on and went to find the superintendent.
Leon then jumped on the woman’s bed and lying there, tried to entice her to come into the bed with him. The woman refused. and Leon left, to return when the woman’s hairdresser came back.
He then allegedly fondled one of her breasts with both hands and told the woman he wanted to sleep with her before he ran off. Police spoke to the hairdresser and he corroborated the woman’s story.
Leon, now residing in Hartford, was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, strangulation, disorderly conduct and held in lieu of a $50,000 court appearance bond.
