Sutherlin routs Creswell, 59-38

CRESWELL — The Sutherlin boys basketball team whipped Creswell, 59-38, on Tuesday night in a nonleague game.

Mason Gill had 21 points and eight rebounds to lead Sutherlin (9-2). J.R. Bailey had 10 points and six rebounds.

Payton Hope had eight points and six rebounds in the win. Brandon Carr had eight points, seven assists and five rebounds for Sutherlin.

Austin Gabriel scored 11 points for Creswell, which entered as No. 1 in the 3A power rankings.

“Brandon (Carr) really handled the press well tonight and had a great night as a point guard,” Sutherlin coach Willis New said. “J.R. (Bailey) finished well and handled the ball well and I hope that really adds to his confidence. We were efficient on offense and took care of the ball and had great interior passing.”

Sutherlin plays Harrisburg on Friday in the Elmira Tournament.
