Nebraska troopers to monitor game-day traffic on Saturdays
LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska State Patrol says it will be out in full force — on the road and in the air — to make sure those traveling to Nebraska’s first home football game of the season are obeying traffic laws.
The extra effort will kicks off this Saturday as the Huskers play Akron in Lincoln’s Memorial Stadium. The enforcement effort will continue through the first four home games of the season.
The Patrol’s Troop H will conduct the effort, focused on several counties in the Lincoln area to reduce the potential for crashes. More than 100,000 fans are expected to be in and around Memorial Stadium each home game.
The extra enforcement is funded in part by a $4,380 grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office.
