Gas prices low at end of holiday season

December 29, 2018

Drivers are noticing lower than usual gas prices ahead of the New Year.

The deals all depend where you are.

At the Valero on Kildaire Farm Road in Cary, a gallon of regular gasoline is $2.24, a few cents under the average in North Carolina on Friday morning.

In Fremont in Wayne County, a gallon of regular gas was $1.65. A deal was so good that one customer drove from a neighboring town to fill up.

“Our low fuel light was on, and $20 filled up the car,” Daniel Lambert said.

Lambert said residents in Wayne County are lucky. His son lives in Raleigh, and he hasn’t been able to find gas that cheap in his neighborhood.

Prices have been low because the demand has been higher during the holidays. It could go back up soon, so take advantage while you can.
