March 25, 2019

MONROE — The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department will begin to issue camping permits for Webb Mountain Park, on Old Fish House Road, on April 15. Camping is available to the public beginning the Friday of Memorial Day weekend (May 24) through noon on Nov.1.

The camping permit fee is $15 per site (per night) for up to five people and $20 for six to 10 people ($20 for residents and $35 for non-residents). There is a maximum of 10 campers per site. Permits are issued in the parks and recreation office Monday through Thursday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Applicants will need to bring a driver’s license and provide license plate numbers for vehicles (two vehicles per site allowed). Permits are not issued to anyone younger than 18 years old.

The park allows no alcoholic beverages or intoxicating substances; no littering, dumping, or polluting park waters; no vandalism including removal of trees, plants, wildlife, fuel wood or earth material; no hunting, fireworks, or weapons (including firearms, air guns, archery equipment, paint ball and martial arts implements); no ATV’S or motorized trail bikes; no disorderly conduct, obscene behavior or form of rough play; no fire kindled or maintained within five feet of any tree or shrub (fires in established fire pits or camp stoves only). Only tent camping equipment allowed — no RV’s or pop-up campers.

Dogs must be on a leash no longer than seven feet and must have rabies vaccination and current license (owners must show proof upon request). Only one dog per campsite is allowed. Dogs must be attended at all times and owner must clean up after their dog.

All visitors must leave by sunset as the park is closed at that time. Quiet hours are from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. The camp site must be occupied within 24 hours of the day it is assigned or it will be declared an open site. The length of stay is limited to 14 consecutive days. At the end of a camp stay, the site must be clean and vacated by noon. Visitors must remove all items brought in.
