RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) _ Freshman guard Andy Kennedy scored 12 points to lead a balanced North Carolina State scoring attack as the Wolfpack routed Winthrop, 85-58, Monday night to break a six-game losing streak.

Chucky Brown, Walker Lambiotte and Avie Lester each added 10 points for North Carolina State, which improved its record to 13-10.

The Wolfpack never trailed in the game. They built a 42-17 halftime lead and extended the margin to 56-25 early in the second half. State held its biggest lead, 72-32, with 7:43 left in the game.

Lenwood Harris scored 19 points for Winthrop, which dropped its 12th straight game to fall to 5-17. Ted Houpt added 13 and Greg Washington 12 for the Eagles.
