Disabled woman needs help with rent

December 22, 2018

A 58-year-old Santa Fe woman says she is disabled and depends on Social Security benefits.

She says her medical problems have gotten worse and she fell behind on her rent.

“I used to volunteer to help wrap Christmas presents for children in need,” she wrote in her application, “and now I am in need.”

She is among hundreds of people seeking help from the Empty Stocking Fund this season.

The newspaper is publishing stories featuring requests for assistance from local residents.

The information from the initial application will be verified if the applicant is selected for assistance.

Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria are considered without regard to race, creed, place or country of origin, age, disability, ethnicity, color, gender identity, marital status or sexual orientation.
