UW foundation requests lawsuit dismissal

July 30, 2018

LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — The UW Foundation has asked to be dismissed as a defendant in the lawsuit by a former human resources business manager whose position was eliminated as part of a 2015 restructuring.

The Laramie Boomerang reports that Mandy Davis contends in her lawsuit that her layoff was actually an illegal retaliation for filing a discrimination complaint against Foundation President Ben Blalock in July 2015.

UW attorney Kay Lynn Bestol says Davis was not an employee of UW, not the UW Foundation, and so the Foundation should not be part of the lawsuit.

Bestol also asked for summary judgment in a Thursday court filing in Laramie and said the defendants deny any discrimination and retaliation.
