Chase Milbee’s score of 11-over par 82 led Winfield to the Class AA Region IV golf title at the 6,237-yard Big Bend Golf Course in Tornado, West Virginia. Fellow Generals Logan Lightner shot 88, Bryant Moore 100 and Ryan Parsons 108 as Winfield finished at 270, five shots ahead of runner-up Scott.

Mingo Central was third with a 292, followed by Chapmanville at 301, Wayne at 318, Poca at 330, Logan at 340 and Man with no team score.

Ryan Buchter of Scott won medalist honors with an even-par 71, two strokes ahead of runnerup and teammate Chase Hager.

In Class AAA, Chase Coughenour’s round of 91 didn’t count in Huntington High School’s overall team golf scores Monday, but it made the difference in whether the Highlanders qualified for next week’s state golf tournament.

Huntington High and Parkersburg South tied for second with scores of 250, compiled from each squad’s top three golfers, Monday in the AAA Region IV tournament at the 6,542-yard, par-72 Greenhills Country Club golf course in Ravenswood. The score of the teams’ fourth golfer was used as a tie breaker and Coughenour finished five strokes better than the Patriots’ Brenden Jenkins to give HHS the second spot in the state tournament Tuesday and Wednesday at Oglebay Park in Wheeling.

Parkersburg won the regional team title with a score of 240, with Garrett Ballway leading the Big Reds with a 6-over 78. Trey Rossana shot 80, Carter Stone 82 and Nicole Lincicome 88 to back Ballway.

Huntington High’s Jacob Perry tied Ballway and Hurricane’s Sam White for medalist honors. The Highlanders also received an 85 from Connor Campbell and 87 from Tanner Dorsey.

Hurricane finished fourth with a 251. Nathan Neville backed White with an 85. Olivia Hart shot 88 and Luke Six 90. Cabell Midland placed fifth with a score of 269, led by an 83 from Peyton Weekly. Cameron Jarvis shot 92, Jacob Marsh 94 and Caden McComas 97.
