Police capture Pomona man who left mental health facility
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say a man who went missing from an outpatient program is back in Patton State Hospital in San Bernardino.
The Los Angeles Daily News reports 50-year-old Charles Henry Bowshier of Pomona was committed into a state psychiatric hospital after he decapitated his older brother with pruning shears in 1993.
He went missing Oct. 9. Police say they found him four days later in Ontario.
Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office spokesman Ricardo Santiago says Bowshier was booked into West Valley Detention Center without bail and returned to Patton State Hospital after a Tuesday court hearing.
It is not clear how Bowshier got away or how police found him.
