MILWAUKEE (AP) _ Allen Iverson stayed behind at the team hotel because of a sore left hip joint Saturday as the Philadelphia 76ers played the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals.
Iverson was the NBA’s MVP and scoring champion during the regular season. He was averaging 31.7 points in the playoffs.
The 76ers and Bucks were tied 1-1 heading into Saturday’s game.
After Iverson missed 21 of 26 shots in a loss to Milwaukee on Thursday, 76ers coach Larry Brown said he preferred Iverson stay home and get more rest.
Philadelphia went 6-5 without Iverson in the regular season.
