PARIS (AP) _ Alain Dassas was named head of Renault’s Formula One team on Monday. Dassas, who is also the senior vice president of Renault’s financial operations, will replace Patrick Faure on April 3.

``Together with Alain Dassas, our objective is to maintain the successful momentum of the Renault F1 team,″ the French carmaker said in a statement.

Faure, who led Renault to the championship last year, announced his retirement after team driver Fernando Alonso won the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday.
