Friend of UK soldier killer admits terror offenses

March 24, 2014

LONDON (AP) — A friend of the self-styled “soldier of Allah” who murdered a British soldier has pleaded guilty to terrorism offenses.

Ibrahim Abdullah-Hassan, also known as Abu Nusaybah, was arrested in May after giving a television interview about his friendship with Michael Adebolajo.

He claimed in the interview that Britain’s MI5 intelligence service had tried to recruit Adebolajo, who was sentenced to life in prison last month for the murder of Lee Rigby. The soldier was hit by a car and hacked to death in a London street.

Abdullah-Hassan, 28, pleaded guilty Monday at London’s Central Criminal Court to disseminating a terrorist publication — a recording of a speech by radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki — and to encouraging terrorism.

Shah Jalaj Hussain, 31, admitted similar charges. They will be sentenced May 2.
