Kingwood girls maul Lady Mavs in 22-6A soccer 8-1
The Kingwood High School varsity girls soccer team made its first trip to Veterans Memorial Stadium for a district match in years and the wait was worth it, following an 8-1 rout of Pasadena Memorial Tuesday night.
The Lady Mustangs, in raising their early District 22-6A record to 3-0-1, saw five players find the back of Memorial’s net against two Lady Mav goalies.
Most of those successful kicks came in the first half when Kingwood roared out to a 5-1 halftime advantage.
Scoring twice was the duo of Emma Ebert and Ellie Smith. They accounted for four of the five first-half goals.
Kingwood made it 6-1 at the 31:24 mark of the second half on a goal by Annika Miller.
That was followed by a score from Jenna Bodron at the 14:47 mark to make it 7-1. The final Kingwood score was delivered by Emily Zerkel, who scored off a corner kick with 7:25 left.
Mikayla Carlos received credit for the win in the Kingwood net.
