Kankakee County Sheriff’s police arrested Jesse N. Bacskai, 20, of Bourbonnais, for burglary to motor vehicle on Sept. 28. According to a prosecutor, deputies responded to a call about a suspicious person carrying two purses and looking in the trunk of a vehicle at 12:30 a.m. on Big Chief Drive in Bourbonnais. A judge set his bond at $25,000.
A man told Kankakee police someone opened fire on his vehicle at the intersection of South Entrance Avenue and West Merchant Street at 12:45 a.m. on Oct. 1. According to a report, the man received a call to meet an individual there to pay off a debt. He went to the location. The subject attempted to remove the key from the ignition but fled on foot. The victim said that is when another subject emerged from between houses and began shooting at the vehicle. The victim got out of the vehicle and ran for cover. The vehicle was struck several times.
A Kankakee police officer recovered a 9mm shell casing in the alley in the 300 block of South Elm Avenue at 10:37 p.m. on Sept. 28 after being dispatched to a report of shots fired.
Kankakee police investigated a report of shots fired in the vicinity of South Chicago Avenue and East Eagle Street at 3:09 p.m. on Sept. 28. According to a report, several spent shell casings were found in the intersection. A person said they heard 10 to 16 shots and saw a black vehicle leave the area.
