John B. Davidson, 82, passed away Monday (Oct. 1, 2018) at River North Nursing Home in Bradley.
He owned and operated the local restaurants, Davidson’s Pub and Davidson’s West, in Kankakee.
John was a graduate of Lexington High School. He also attended Bradley University and was a member of the Bradley Marching Band.
He was a member of the U.S. Air Force R.O.T.C.
John was an avid jazz listener and jazz player of the saxophone. He was a member of the Bloomington Municipal Band. He performed in his dad’s (Toby Davidson) 10-piece dance band and has toured with many dance and jazz bands throughout the Midwest.
He owned and operated Elbert Resort in St. Germain, Wis., and managed the Labor Temple in Kankakee for many years.
He was a member of various musicians, bartenders and liquor salesmen unions.
John was also a proud member of the Kankakee and Medinah Shrine Clubs.
He married Naomi McFall in 1968. She preceded him in death in 2014.
Surviving are his son, Jeff Davidson, of Springfield; stepchildren, Linda (Doug) Grinstead, of Hudson, Charles (Glenda) McFall, of Seminole, Fla., and Dan (Cheryl) McFall, of Kankakee; a sister, Vickie Duszynski, and niece, Jackie Gluck, both of Las Vegas. Also surviving are four step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; and a great-niece and nephew.
A celebration of life will be from 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, until the noon service at Kankakee Eastridge Church of the Nazarene, 2679 E. Court St., Kankakee, with the Rev. Greg Chambers officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial will be in Aroma Park Township Cemetery at a later date.
