Kaneland School District 302 Board names new member
MAPLE PARK – Meg Junk has been appointed to the seat vacated by Peter Lopatin on the Kaneland School District 302 Board, according to a news release.
Junk was sworn in Monday night, and will fill the spot of Lopatin, who resigned, until the April 2 consolidation election.
Junk, a mother of a 4-year-old and higher education professional, works as the student life coordinator for Waubonsee Community College in Sugar Grove. According to the release, she has served in numerous volunteering roles.
The district announced about a month ago that it was looking to fill the spot.
Board President Shana Sparber said Junk stood out in an impressive field.
“The level of experience of the candidates was impressive,” she said in the release. “During over two hours of interviews, [the board] had an opportunity to explore applicants’ reasons for wanting to be a board member, strengths applicants would bring to the role, and the process each candidate would use to make decisions.”
