WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — A Connecticut woman has been charged after her dog attacked and injured a 78-year-old man.

Katherine Stevenson, of Avon, was charged Tuesday with second-degree assault of an elderly person and other offenses. The Bloomfield man attacked last week suffered a fractured pelvis and dog bites to his ribs, hand and bicep.

The Hartford Courant reports (http://cour.at/2uBfEHd ) that Stevenson is in custody and she had the dog euthanized.

Police say the 41-year-old Stevenson violated orders to restrain the dog — which had attacked two people in the past.

West Hartford Police Lt. Eric Rocheleau said Wednesday that tests showed that the dog did not have rabies.
