NORFOLK, Va. (AP) _ Florida A&M’s DeLon Turner had 14 points and 14 rebounds Friday night and the Rattlers capitalized on poor free-throw shooting by Morgan State for a 74-69 victory in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference tournament semifinals.

The victory gave Florida A&M (16-13) a chance to become just the third team in MEAC history to win back-to-back titles. The third-seeded Rattlers’ opponent in Saturday’s title game will be top-seeded Howard, a 76-73 winner over South Carolina State.

Seventh-seeded Morgan State (6-23) came within one point five times in the final 10 minutes but missed six of its last eight free throws.

In losing to Florida A&M for the third time in as many meetings this season, the Bears missed 12 of 18 foul shots in the second half.

Morgan State’s Phillip Downs missed a pair of free throws that would have given the Bears a 62-61 lead.

Downs hit two foul shots with 3:22 left that cut Morgan State’s deficit to a single point for the last time at 63-62. But the Rattlers scored the next nine points to go up 72-62 with 1:38 to play.

Darrell Williams had 19 points to lead Florida A&M and Reginald Finney, whose basket put the Rattlers ahead to stay at 9-7, added 16 points and nine rebounds.

Terry Sellers had 11 points for Morgan State and Downs and Brandon Parker added 10 apiece.
