Grand jury indicts 25 in Cabell County

February 23, 2019

HUNTINGTON - Twenty-five people were indicted by a Cabell County grand jury in January, including one woman who is accused of stabbing her sister in November 2018 and a man who was accused of domestic battery and strangulation in October 2018.

An indictment is a formal charge made against a person by a grand jury. It does not establish guilt or innocence. The indictments were released last week.

Eldonna Pennington, 27, of Huntington, was charged with malicious wounding by the Huntington Police Department. Her bond was set at $25,000.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court, officers responded to the 100 block of Davis Street in Huntington just before 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15, 2018, to find Reba Aliff in the street in front of the residence where Pennington resides.

Aliff told police she had gotten into an argument with Pennington, her sister, who picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed her in the right arm. The stab wound went completely through her arm and into her side just below her armpit, police said.

In an unrelated case, Alvin Antonio Nevels, 39, is charged with two counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and the single counts of strangulation, domestic battery and possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Oct. 17, 2018, in the 1200 block of 18th Street in Huntington after police responded to an alleged domestic situation and located drugs in the residence.

According to the criminal complaints filed in Cabell County Magistrate Court, the suspect allegedly grabbed the female victim by the throat and choked her and pushed her off the porch.

Police allegedly located 18.69 grams of suspected crack cocaine, 7.13 grams of suspected heroin and 4.7 grams of marijuana hidden in a propane grill.
