Sunrise Rotary names student of the month

Aiken’s Sunrise Rotary has selected University of South Carolina Aiken senior Kimberly Jergenson, a native of Lexington, as its Student of the Month for September.

A communication and political science major, Jergenson plans to go to law school after graduation in May.

“Although I am unsure what they future holds, I have developed a passion for law throughout my undergrad courses. I hope to attend law school and gain work experience that will help me to determine the right area of law for me,” she said.

In addition to maintaining a GPA that has earned her scholarships and spots on the dean’s and president’s lists and the Peach Belt Conference Honor Roll, she serves as a coordinator for special projects, in the Student Life Office; as a Chancellor Ambassador; vice president of Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communication Honor Society; on the University Judicial Board; as the academic achievement chairman for Zeta Tau Alpha, Kappa Pi; and as vice president of judicial matters for the National Panhellenic Council. Additionally, Jergenson is a Pacer Fanatics student coordinator and a team leader for orientation.

Mahaffey joins Hearing Associates

Dr. Jessica Mahaffey has joined the Hearing Associates of South Carolina team. She is a graduate of the University of South Alabama with a degree in speech and language sciences, and she received her doctorate from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Dr. Mahaffey is a licensed audiologist in South Carolina, Board Certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CCC-A), and a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology (F-AAA). She will be working alongside Hearing Associates’ other audiologist, Dr. Sherri Little, Au.D.

Dr. Mahaffey enjoys working with both adults and children in all aspects of audiology. She has specialized training in the fitting and programming of hearing devices for a majority of the leading hearing aid manufacturers. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, kayaking and spending time with friends and family.
