EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) _ Devils left wing Sergei Brylin underwent knee surgery Saturday, and the team said he might return to the lineup in about a week.

Brylin was injured Thursday night when he got tangled up with Buffalo Sabres goaltender Dominik Hasek during the third period of New Jersey's 1-0 loss.

He underwent arthroscopic surgery to remove cartilage from his right knee. Brylin could be skating within three or four days, Devils spokesman Mike Levine said.

Brylin has 18 goals and 23 assists in 58 games this season, career highs for the seven-year veteran.
