A fast-moving wildfire near the California-Oregon border has killed one person as hot weather and extreme winds fuel blazes throughout the West. In Colorado’ the governor is visiting areas where massive wildfires have burned down more than 100 homes.


DENVER — An editor for a Colorado online news publication says she was handcuffed by Denver police after she started photographing them standing around a handcuffed man sitting naked on a downtown sidewalk. Susan Greene of The Colorado Independent reported Friday that an officer told her to stop shooting photos. She says she was handcuffed and put into a patrol car Thursday. By James Anderson. COLORADO WILDFIRES-SHOOTING — Shooting ranges in Eagle County have been shut down after shooters allegedly started three fires, including one that has burned three homes.

POLICE SHOOTING-COLORADO STABBING — The two men killed in a stabbing and subsequent shooting involving a Colorado police officer have been identified.

MISSING HIKER-ROCKY MOUNTAIN— A search is underway in Rocky Mountain National Park in northern Colorado for a 38-year-old man who failed to return from a day hike nearly a week ago. The Daily Camera reports that Brian J. Perri, of Fort Collins, was reported missing Thursday.



SEATTLE — Having won nine of 10, the Seattle Mariners step into interleague play hosting the Colorado Rockies for a three-game series beginning Friday night. The Rockies have won three straight to move a game over .500. UPCOMING: 700 words from 8:10 p.m. game.
