HELENA, Mont. (AP) — A judge has sentenced a Helena man to 25 years in prison for raping two girls under the age of 12 last year.

The Independent Record reports District Judge Kathy Seeley called the rapes a "heinous offense" as she sentenced Benjamin Lee Rose III to 100 years with 75 years suspended for sexual intercourse without consent.

She also sentenced him to 25 years with 21 years suspended for felony sexual assault, to run concurrently with the other sentence.

The victims gave statements to the court that described the damage, fear and pain that Rose had caused them.

Seeley addressed Rose's relatives who said Rose was innocent of the crimes. The judge says she doesn't understand how the relatives can keep saying Rose got a raw deal after the victims told the jury their story.
