JEEZY SERVES UP THANKSGIVING DINNER TO GEORGIA FAMILY
MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — Sure, these are “leftover” Thanksgiving stories. But like leftovers from the meal you scarfed down last night, they can still be tasty.
Jeezy stepped up to the plate big time for a family in Georgia. The rapper had Thanksgiving meals catered and delivered to a Marietta family that lost their home to a fire. On top of that, WSB-TV reports Jeezy offered to pay the Natt family’s hotel bill for the rest of the year. The family of 16 was burned out of their home recently; they are staying at a hotel until they can find another place to live. Jeezy says his pitching in to help is “what Atlanta’s all about.”
Meanwhile, a crowdfunding website says more than $27,000 has been raised to help the family.
MACY’S CITES “TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES” FOR RITA ORA AUDIO PROBLEMS
NEW YORK (AP) — Both John Legend and Macy’s are coming to the defense of Rita Ora in the wake of yesterday’s performance at New York’s Thanksgiving Day parade. Ora was being blasted online after it appeared to TV viewers that she was stumbling through a lip synch of her hit “Let You Love Me.” Macy’s says if anyone’s to blame, it is. It tweeted that “several recording artists” not just Ora “experienced technical difficulties that negatively impacted their performance.” Ora has tweeted a thank-you to Macy’s for its “honesty.”
LGBTQ KISS MAKES WAVES AT MACY’S PARADE
NEW YORK (AP) — Both the temperatures and the balloons were lower than usual at yesterday’s Macy’s Thanksgiving parade. But there’s something else about the event that is still being talked about. During a performance from the cast of the Broadway musical “The Prom,” two female cast members engaged in a kiss. Neither Macy’s nor NBC, which broadcast the parade, have commented. But producers of the musical are telling Entertainment Weekly it was the “first LGBTQ kiss” at the parade.
ERIC BANA - “DIRTY JOHN”
NEW YORK (AP) — Eric Bana is bringing the popular true crime podcast “Dirty John” to TV with a weekly series on Bravo. In the show, Bana plays John Meehan, the male half of a California couple that met online and fell in love. Meehan falsely claimed to be a doctor who’d been volunteering with Doctors Without Borders in Iraq. Meanwhile, Debra Newell, played by Connie Britton, sees John as a potential new husband, though her grown kids don’t agree. As the drama unfolds, John ends up driving a wedge between Debra and her kin. Bana expects viewers will find the story as compelling as he did.
MIAMI MARINE STADIUM - THE REBUILD
MIAMI (AP) — Miami Marine Stadium is a mere shell of its former self. But now it’s in position to get a major makeover. The city of Miami has decided to pony up $42 million to restore the stadium and create a mixed-use park around it. Miami Marine used to host concerts, boxing matches and speedboat races before it was condemned due to damage caused by Hurricane Andrew in 1992. During its heyday, its floating stage hosted music acts like Queen, Whitney Houston and Jimmy Buffet. Officials hope the restoration will be completed by 2020.
