Evian beats Lorient 4-0 to reach French Cup final
PARIS (AP) — Evian put its relegation fears to one side and thrashed Lorient 4-0 to reach the French Cup final on Wednesday.
Evian, which is one point away from safety with just three matches remaining in the French first division, raced into a 3-0 halftime lead thanks to goals from midfielder Milos Ninkovic and strikers Yannick Sagbo and Kevin Berigaud. Subsitute Najib Baouia’s late score completed the rout.
Evian, which knocked out Paris Saint-Germain in the quarterfinals, plays Troyes or Bordeaux in the May 31 final at Stade de France. They were due to play their semi on Tuesday, but it was postponed after bad weather put the region at risk of flooding.
The match will take place next Tuesday.
