Longmont police at the scene of a brawl in the apartment complex at 1200 Kimbark Street on Sept. 17.

Longmont police arrested two people Monday night after responding to a large fight that sent multiple people to the hospital.

Denise Martinez, 37, was arrested on suspicion of fighting by agreement, disorderly conduct and two counts of felony menacing. Juan Manuel Martinez, 19, was arrested on suspicion of menacing and second-degree assault.

Around 40 people were at the scene outside an apartment complex at 1200 Kimbark St. at 9 p.m. Monday, according to Longmont police Cmdr. Joel Post. It’s not clear how many were involved and how many were watching the fight.

While the call for the disturbance originally came in as a shooting, Post said there were no signs that shots were fired or that anyone was shot.

When police arrived, it appeared two groups were fighting each other. One side had armed themselves with baseball bats and crowbars, according to Post, but it’s not clear from the initial reports whether the other side was armed.

During the fight, some were struck with the weapons and suffered minor to moderate injuries, Post said. They were taken to Longmont United Hospital.
