Artists’ Market Space Available, Poster Contest Open For Fine Arts Fiesta

WILKES-BARRE — Artists and crafters can still apply for a spot in the Artists’ Market at the 2019 Fine Arts Fiesta. The Feb. 15 deadline has been extended to Feb. 25, the fiesta announced Tuesday. The fiesta runs May 16-19 on Public Square. Participation in the fiesta market is open to all artists and craftspeople 18 and older who create original work. No commercial molds, kit objects, decoupage, pre-manufactured components, etc. will be considered. Jurors and the fiesta reserve the right to determine the eligibility of all objects submitted for jurying. Cash awards are presented for best of show in fine arts, crafts, along with honorable mentions in each category at the judge’s discretion at the artists’ breakfast. All exhibitors will receive an invitation to the free breakfast for Saturday morning. There is a $25 non-refundable initial application fee. Artists and crafters must submit four digital photos of their work, a photo of the proposed booth setup and a short biography. Upon acceptance, a $200 exhibition fee is required by April 6, 2019. Late payments are not accepted. Exhibit fees are non-refundable after April 15. Read the complete rules and download an application under the “Applications & Forms” tab at www.fineartsfiesta.org. Entries are also being accepted for the 2019 Fine Arts Fiesta program cover contest. The contest is open to students enrolled in any elementary, junior or senior high school in Luzerne County. Each student may submit one piece of original work for consideration. Entries can be taken to the Osterhout Library on South Franklin Street. The contest is sponsored by Marquis Art and Frame.
