ST. LOUIS (AP) — A national Democratic Party organization is pledging money and advice to Missouri's 2nd District candidate Cort VanOstran.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee announced Friday it had added VanOstran's race against GOP incumbent Rep. Ann Wagner, of Ballwin, to its "red to blue" list — meaning the committee believes the race could be close. Missouri's 2nd District is one of 82 Republican-held House seats targeted by national Democrats.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Wagner has a large money advantage over VanOstran, and she and her aides are confident she will win re-election. Last week, the head of the National Republican Congressional Committee said Wagner rejected any help from the committee.

As of July 18, the last reporting deadline, Wagner had just under $3 million in campaign funds, compared to VanOstran's $454,000.
