UML Baseball Breaks the Ice
ARLINGTON, Va. -- Behind two home runs from Vinnie Martin, the UMass Lowell baseball team soared past George Washington, 12-1, to snap an early season skid for the team’s first win of 2019.
Martin went 3-for-5 with 4 runs and 5 RBI on the day to lead the River Hawks (1-11). Nick Rand pitched 7 shutout innings, scattering 4 hits and striking out 6 to pick up the victory. Mark Tumosa also continued his reached-base streak to 12 games.
UMass Lowell took control early against the Colonials (6-6) with 5 runs in the third inning, capped by Martin’s 3-run shot.
RIVERDALE, N.Y. -- The UMass Lowell men’s lacrosse team earned an 8-5 victory at Manhattan on Saturday afternoon in non-conference play.
UMass Lowell improves to 3-2 overall with its second consecutive road victory. Brandon Beland notched a game-high 3 points (2g, 1a) for the River Hawks, while Gage Sevigny and Jake Lining also posted 2 goals in the game.
Senior goalie Grant Lardieri totaled eight saves in his second win of the season.
