At home in South Carolina, Graham tips hand on 2016 run

May 2, 2015

COLUBMIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham is strongly hinting he will run for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016.

Graham told hundreds of Republicans at a South Carolina state party dinner Friday that he would have an announcement in late May or early June.

He told South Carolina voters that the state has “his heart.” But he also told Iowa and New Hampshire voters to “get ready.”

Iowa and New Hampshire are the first two states to vote in the GOP’s nominating process. South Carolina, where Graham shared a stage with other potential White House hopefuls Friday, is third.

Graham already has made several trips to the first two early-voting states, and he will head to New Hampshire again Saturday.
