Venezuela Edges Puerto Rico 7-6

SANTO DOMINGO (AP) _ Eduardo Rios homered twice and drove in three runs to lead Venezuela to a 7-6 victory over Puerto Rico on Wednesday in the Caribbean Series.

Puerto Rico (0-4) was eliminated from contention, while Venezuela (2-2) still has a slim chance at the title.

Rios broke a tie in the eighth with a solo home run against Jose Alberro (0-1), who allowed six hits and three runs in two innings.

Reliever Victor Moreno (1-0) struck three in two and a third scoreless innings. Closer Francisco Rodriguez pitched a perfect ninth for his first save of the series.

Carlos Rivera and Raul Gonzalez had two hits each for Puerto Rico.
