C.W. Post 20, Hofstra 10
HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) _ C.W. Post, scoring all its points in the fourth quarter with the help of quarterback Tom Kupec’s passing and running, beat Hofstra 20-10 Saturday as the teams resumed their football rivalry for the first time since 1979.
Kupec, who missed last week’s game because of a hip pointer, completed 17 of 33 passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns, while running for one TD.
Kupec started the Pioneers’ comeback with a 19-yard scoring pass to Mark McDermott. Kupec then ran 3 yards for a touchdown and flipped a 4-yard scoring pass to Tim Moore, completing the scoring for the 2-1 Pioneers.
The Flying Dutchmen, also 2-1, in losing for the ninth straight time in the series, had taken a 10-0 lead on a 26-yard run by Mike Codella on Hofstra’s first possession of the game and a 24-yard field goal by Phil Kuzniar in the third period.
