Unisys Reaches Marketing Agreement With Computer Associates
NEW YORK (AP) _ Unisys Corp. will get fresh software for its computers and Computer Associates International Inc. will get a new outlet for its programs in an alliance announced Monday by the two giants.
Computer Associates, of Garden City, N.Y., is the world’s biggest independent software company. Unisys, of Detroit and Blue Bell, Pa., rivals Fujitsu Ltd. as the world’s third-biggest computer company, behind International Business Machines Corp. and Digital Equipment Corp.
Under the deal, Unisys will market specified Computer Associates software products for use on Unisys computers.
In turn, Computer Associates will adapt programs that were written for other computers so they will run on Unisys computers.
Financial, database and graphics software are involved in the deal.
Unisys has deals for certain products with other software companies, but this is the first long-term ″corporation to corporation relationship,″ said Prakash Trivedi, Unisys program manager for financial management systems.
