Senior Men’s Association of Stamford to receive a “SilverSource Contribution to Community Award”

STAMFORD — The Senior Men’s Association will receive a SilverSource “Contribution To Community Award” at the Fourth Annual SilverSource Inspiring Lives Benefit Luncheon on Nov. 7.

The SilverSource “Contribution To Community Award” is presented to an individual, organization or business in recognition of their significant contributions to the quality of life for older adults in this region and significant community enhancements that make the area a great place to live and retire.

The Senior Men’s Association of Stamford (SMAS), now in its 32nd year, is a nonprofit educational organization for men ages 55-plus. The organization promotes friendly association, intellectual and physical stimulation, community service and outreach. Through weekly meetings with informative speakers, engaging discussions, community service and special events, this group of nearly 250 members come together to form friendships and create more satisfied and fulfilled lives.

“Everybody feels very honored to receive this award,” said Bob Loop, President of SMAS. “I think it’s a tribute to our organization and a tribute to SilverSource in being able to work with organizations like ours and recognize what’s happening in the senior community of Stamford.”

SilverSource, founded in 1908, advocates for older adults and provides case management, emergency financial assistance, guidance and other direct services to improve the safety, health and quality of life for older adults in lower Fairfield County CT. In addition, SilverSource is an information resource center and referral source for older residents and their families.
