The race for governor in Georgia between Democrat Stacey Abrams and Republican Brian Kemp is too close to call.

With all precincts reporting as of 6 p.m. EST Wednesday, Kemp holds a lead of 62,880 votes out of more than 3.9 million ballots counted — a margin of 1.6 percentage points. However, election officials say tabulation continues in several large counties.

Under state law in Georgia, the leading candidate must receive more than 50 percent of the vote to avoid a runoff election. Kemp currently has 50.3 percent of the vote.
