NORFOLK — Services for Elaine Kirkland, 84, of Norfolk will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2018, at Christ Lutheran Church in Norfolk. The Rev. David Goehmann will officiate, with private burial in the Wisner Cemetery in Wisner.
Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brockhaus-Howser-Fillmer Funeral Home in Norfolk.
She died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk.
Elaine June Kirkland, daughter of George and Eunice (Schultz) Heller, was born June 13, 1934, at Beemer. She attended public schools in Cuming County. On Sept. 19, 1954, Elaine was united in marriage to Melvin Kirkland at Wisner. They were blessed with two children, Nancy and Kevin.
Elaine was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1644 Auxiliary.
Elaine is survived by her husband, Melvin of Norfolk;daughter Nancy Carley and Dan Baer of Winside; brothers-in-law Marvin (Joy) Kirkland and Donald Kirkland; son Kevin (Shelley) Kirkland of Pender; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; sibling, Margaret (Russ) Kind of Wisner; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Eunice Heller; parents-in-law Ed and Twilda Kirkland; brothers Delmar Heller and Gerald (Lois) Heller; brothers-in-law Marvin Kirkland, Willie Kirkland and Leland Kirkland; and sister-in-law Norma Kirkland.
