Cardinals rout Pirates

January 5, 2019

WATERLOO — Sophomore guard Mia Morel led four players in double figures with 20 points as Marshall defeated Waterloo’s girls basketball team 68-35 in a Capitol South game on Thursday.

Marshall (9-2, 2-0 in conference) forced the Pirates into 28 turnovers.

Senior guard/forward Brittney Limoseth scored 19 points to lead Waterloo (10-2, 1-1). Sophomore guard Skyler Powers had three steals. Senior forward Ashley Caraballo and sophomore forward Brooke Mosher each had two blocks.

“They showed why they are D3 champs,” Waterloo girls basketball coach Gabe Haberkorn said. “We didn’t play our best game. We didn’t play our worst game. They came out hit their first three 3s, and we really couldn’t get into any kind of flow. We did some good things, but we didn’t do the little things that we’ve been doing. We’re still 10-2. We’ve just got to start another streak now.”

Waterloo plays at New Glarus on Tuesday.
