3 plead not guilty to charges in death of 88-year-old woman
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — Three people charged in the death of an 88-year-old West Virginia woman found living with a rotting leg have pleaded not guilty.
The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports Lisa Jean Dunlap, John W. Rogers and Kayla Lea Rogers pleaded guilty Wednesday after Norma Dunlap died May 9. They’re charged with neglect of an incapacitated adult causing death and other offenses. Norma is Lisa’s mother and Kayla’s grandmother.
A criminal complaint says Norma also had dried feces on her back, numerous bed sores and was covered with insects when she was admitted to a hospital. Authorities say her Charleston home was in deplorable condition, with feces on the floors and a methamphetamine smoking device beside a bed where two children slept, among other things.
It’s unclear if the accused have lawyers.
