December 5, 2018

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) has nominated two Putnam County students to U.S. Service Academies.

She has nominated Cameron Lee Patterson Putnam County to the U.S. Military Academy, and Austin Cole Stover of Putnam County to the U.S. Naval Academy, according to a news release from Capito’s office.

Patterson and Stover are among 31 high school seniors from 20 counties in West Virginia who were nominated to service academies by Capito. A board chosen by Capito reviewed each nominee’s application, interviewed candidates, and made recommendations.

“Each year, I have the honor and privilege of nominating West Virginia’s best and brightest to our nation’s prestigious service academies. It is truly one of the most important responsibilities I have as a United States senator,” Capito said in a news release. “I am proud to announce this group of young men and women who are smart, talented, and driven and have worked extremely hard to get to this point.
